Everybody talks about calorie in food but what is actually a calorie.

 

A calorie is the amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1degree centigrade. All food we eat provides energy that is measurable in calories.

 

Counting calories in food is important to weight loss as all excess food we eat are either used or stored as body fat. The more excess calories in food we consume the more weight we gain.

 

Over a period of time be it a day, a week, a month or a year if we eat excess food we will put on weight.  Every extra 3,500 calories of food we eat will result in an addition of 1 pound or 1/2 kilo of body weight.

 

Fat is fattening. For  every extra 100 calories of fat we consumed, 97 calories will be converted into body fat. Thus it is of utmost importance to reduce and limit fat intake by choosing low fat food for weight loss and weight control.

 

Avoid high fat food and high fat products in your low fat diet plan.
